FX-123 & Precision Reloading
Is the A&D FX-123 good for precision reloading?
Yes. The A&D FX-123 provides a 122 g capacity with
0.001 g readability, making it well suited for precision ammunition
reloading, powder charge verification, component sorting and other
applications requiring milligram-level measurement.
The FX-123 is part of A&D's newer Fortis precision balance
platform and succeeds the widely used FX-120i.
Does the FX-123 weigh in grains?
Yes. The FX-123 supports grains (gr) as a weighing unit, making it
convenient for precision ammunition reloading applications.
How fast is the FX-123?
Under suitable conditions, the FX-123 can provide typical
stabilization of approximately one second when configured
for FAST response.
Actual stabilization time can be affected by vibration, airflow,
temperature, static electricity, balance configuration and the
weighing environment.
What does FAST response do on the FX-123?
FAST response prioritizes quicker reaction from the weighing display.
Different response settings allow the balance to be optimized for
weighing speed or additional display stability depending on the application.
Should I always use FAST response?
Not necessarily. FAST response is useful when quick balance reaction
is important, but a slower response can provide additional stability
in difficult weighing environments.
When using an automated powder dispensing system, follow the response
settings recommended by the manufacturer of that system.
Why does the FX-123 include a breeze break?
Small air currents can affect milligram-level weighing.
The breeze break helps shield the weighing pan from drafts and moving
air that could otherwise cause unstable readings.

No. Different automated powder dispensing systems may require
different communication settings, response settings, cables,
firmware or mounting arrangements.
Always follow the configuration instructions provided by the
manufacturer of your particular system.
If you purchased your FX-123 from CE Products, contact us if you
need assistance with the FX-123 balance settings.
Can the FX-123 work with systems other than AutoTrickler?
The FX-123 may be compatible with other automated powder dispensing
systems that support the A&D precision balance communication platform.
Compatibility should be confirmed for the exact system before purchase,
because different manufacturers and system generations can require
different cables, settings or configurations.
Have a system in mind? Contact CE Products with the manufacturer
and model and we will help you determine whether the FX-123
is compatible.
Can I switch my FX-123 between different powder dispensing systems?
Potentially. The FX-123 is a standalone A&D precision balance,
rather than a balance permanently dedicated to one dispensing system.
Whether it can be used with another system depends on that system's
balance compatibility and communication requirements.
Settings, cables or mounting components may also need to change
when moving the balance between systems.
Contact CE Products with the system you are considering and we can
help confirm the FX-123 requirements.
Can I use the FX-123 normally when my trickler is disconnected?
Yes. The FX-123 remains a fully functional standalone precision
balance when an automated powder dispensing system is disconnected.
It can be used for manual weighing, component sorting, laboratory work,
quality control and other precision weighing applications.

Warranty and service questions
My FX-123 displays an E error with my AutoTrickler. What should I do?
An E error while using the FX-123 with an AutoTrickler can be related
to an incorrect balance or communication setting.
Check that the balance settings match the required AutoTrickler
configuration and verify the connection between the balance and
AutoTrickler.
If you purchased your FX-123 from CE Products, contact our technical
team and we can help work through the FX-123 configuration.
How long should I let the FX-123 warm up?
For best precision weighing performance, allow the FX-123 to remain
connected to power for at least approximately 30 minutes before use.
Where should I set up my FX-123?
Place the FX-123 on a solid, stable and level surface away from
vibration, airflow and rapid temperature changes.
Avoid placing the balance:
Directly below HVAC vents
Beside fans
Near frequently opened doors
On flexible benches
In direct sunlight
Beside equipment producing vibration
Why is my FX-123 reading unstable or drifting?
At 0.001 g readability, environmental conditions can noticeably
affect weighing performance.
Common causes include:
Vibration
Air movement
Rapid temperature changes
Static electricity
An unstable bench
The balance not being level
Insufficient warm-up
Incorrect response settings
If the problem continues, CE Products can help troubleshoot the
balance and installation.
Can static electricity affect the FX-123?
Yes. Static electricity can affect precision weighing, particularly
in dry environments and when weighing powders, plastics or other
materials that readily develop static charge.
How should I clean spilled powder from my FX-123?
Carefully remove loose powder using an appropriate soft brush,
working material away from the weighing mechanism and openings
in the balance.
Can I use compressed air to clean my FX-123?
Compressed air is not recommended for removing powder from a precision
balance because it can force powder or debris through openings
and into the balance.
Carefully using an appropriate soft brush is the better approach.
Calibration

No. The standard FX-123 uses external calibration.
If internal calibration is required, the corresponding A&D
FZ Series models include an internal calibration weight.
What calibration weight should I use?
The FX-123 supports external sensitivity adjustment using appropriate
calibration weights specified by A&D. A 100 g calibration weight
is commonly used with the FX-123.
CE Products can help recommend the appropriate calibration weight
for your application.
Do I need a calibration weight?
Because the standard FX-123 uses external calibration, an appropriate
external calibration weight is required when performing a sensitivity
adjustment.
When should I recalibrate my FX-123?
Calibration should be checked when the balance is initially installed,
after it has been moved, or following a meaningful change in the
operating environment.
Periodic verification with an appropriate calibration weight is also
good practice for precision weighing.

Precision Reloading must have
"Precision reloading. Have been using RCBS for the past decade - but have had issues getting a consistent MV and SD. Narrowed it down to the powder discrepancies between rounds. Did some research and read about the AutoTrickler on the PRS blog by Cal. Just received it and set it up, did the calibration and tuning, loaded the first rounds and heading out later today for testing. So far, it’s been great. Easy to follow video instructions, intuitive use - highly recommend based on the experience so far."

Autotrickler V4 great product
"Used for the first time and it was excellent. What normally took me 2+ hours to manually weigh out 65 charges for 308 with Varget using a thrower and then trickling to final weight, took me about 30 minutes with the Autotrickler. The scales accuracy is far better than my normal digital scale and balance beam as well. About 1/10 dispenses overthrew but it wasn’t an issue. It came configured and ready to use from CE as well so from unboxing to first use was 15 minutes. Would highly recommend from my first use and purchasing from CE. Took a while to get to me but considering coming from Canada that’s ok."
— Ryan W. (5/5)
Great company to deal with
"After an initial confusion on my part about where "in stock" items were held - its Canada not USA - the rest of the process was painless. Delivered on the day expected even after a delay at the border crossing. Would recommend CE whole heartedly."

What a disappointment
"I wish I had done more research on this AutoTrickler V4 before I purchased it. Knowing that there is not an App on the play store, could have saved hours trying to set it up. Once it was set up I realized just how difficult and time consuming this AutoTrickler is during load development and ladder testing as it must be “calibrated” every time you change powders and the amateur engineering that required you to manually relevel the AutoTrickler to adjust flow rate is ridicules. I should have known the designer, Adam MacDonald, is an F-Class shooter, not a Benchrest shooter, so absolute accuracy is not his main focus. I suppose if you only throw one powder type and you took the time to calibrate and fine tune the AutoTrickler to that preferred powder, it will have some value to you. Just know that when you key in a desired weight … Let’s say 37. 4gr of Varget there will likely be a 25% failure rate (above or below). My favorite is the Green light that illuminates when it reaches your desired load – It doesn't mean “perfect” it means “Close Enough”. Set it to 37. 4gr and the light is on from 37. 32 to 37. 48. Close Enough, eh?"

V4 AUTOTRICKLER FX-123
"If I am reviewing CE Products then my review is a five star. Fast shipping no hidden import fees, and fast email response to issues. The actual product gets a 4 star. Mainly do to hassle of downloading app on Samsung device, and the fact you have to use Bluetooth and device to run any part of it. Please make a plug in control to throw charges, so that I do not need to run Bluetooth and cell phone. Thanks T. H."
